The Kameleon is a universal
learning remote control. Home entertainment devices are
finding their way into our living rooms at a rate like
never before. The average U.S. household today has 13
consumer electronic devices and growing, due to the vast
popularity of Personal Video Recorders (PVR), DVD,
Home-theater-in-a-Box, Satellite receivers, and Digital
Television. Home entertainment devices are becoming
increasingly more elaborate, sophisticated, and
function-rich. Consequently, traditional universal
learning remote controls have become increasingly more
complex and difficult to use in trying to accommodate
the many features and options available to the consumer.
Kameleon’s universal learning remote controls feature
unique electro-luminescent display technology (EL) that
hides inactive keys until needed, so you can easily
enjoy the advanced features of an 8-device universal
learning remote control without any of the added
complexity. The universal learning remote control design
blends both form and function by combining all the
functionality of a traditional universal remote with the
power of a touch interface display. Its bold look is
modern and attractive, highlighting a one-of-a kind
ergonomic design that is distinct and high tech.

About Kameleon
Universal Learning Remote Controls From
Universal Electronics
Kameleon is a universal
learning remote control with a revolutionary display
technology that utilizes the power of Intelligent
Illumination to provide unparalleled ease of use and
superior control of the home entertainment environment.
The universal learning remote control works by
intelligently illuminating only active device keys, and
hiding inactive functions, to deliver an intuitive and
unique graphical control interface.
Designed with UEI technology inside, the Kameleon remote
features UEI’s industry-leading connectivity software,
for unparalleled brand coverage. Over the past 16 years,
UEI has built a comprehensive portfolio of patented
consumer ease-of-use features, such as favorite channel
scan, upgradeability, learning, and macros, all geared
to providing the consumer with the most intuitive
processes for customizing the remote to his or her own
preferences. With over 204,000 device function codes
spanning over 2,300 brands, UEI’s industry-leading
database ensures compatibility with virtually any
consumer electronics device. And with UEI’s experienced
universal learning remote control design team, key
layouts are optimized to group functions together and
create efficient spacing of keys and labels.
Kameleon 6 Hybrid Universal Learning Remote Control
The Kameleon 6-Hybrid combines Kameleon’s revolutionary
programmable remote control display technology that
intelligently illuminates and changes its display to
adapt to different entertainment environments with the
familiar, intuitive buttons of standard remote controls.
Complementing the bright blue display and its animated
graphics are 33 hard keys that offer consumers quick
access to the most frequently used functions such as
channel and volume control.
Kameleon 8 RF Universal Learning Remote Control
The Kameleon 8-RF universal learning remote control
combines the infrared (IR) transmitter found in most
remote controls with the more powerful RF transmitter.
While IR signals require line of sight to operate, RF
signals have no trouble reaching target devices that are
hidden inside cabinets or closets with a Kameleon.
Universal Electronics has also taken the time to listen
and respond to customer feedback. Two key features have
been added to extend battery life in universal learning
remote controls. The motion activated display enables
the universal learning remote control screen to turn on
when it senses motion. Users can disable this to make
the universal learning remote control unit only turn on
when a key is pressed. Furthermore, the display timeout
control allows the user to select the amount of time
that the display stays on. When it comes to adapting,
nothing does it quite like a Kameleon. Take a look and
see how the Kameleon universal learning remote control
is outshining the traditional clicker in more ways than
one.
